On 22nd February, 12 IFS volunteers spent their CSR Day cleaning up a polluted area in Weralugahamula. The IFS Foundation led the effort together with Plasticcycle, the social Entrepreneurship project of the John Keells Group who conducted an engaging awareness session on plastic pollution, the harmful effects on human health, wildlife and the environment and also provided a volunteer briefing on waste segregation for the clean-up held at the Madampe Divisional Hospital. This clean-up consisted of 16 volunteers from the local community which resulted in the collection of multiple bags of waste, including recyclable and non-recyclable plastics, glass, and cans. The collections were then handed over to the local officials for responsible disposal.
